I Purchaced a brand new MP8000 today.
Skipping through the PDF manual supported, I saw that the advertised capability of FM radio raception was mentioned as "optional" and had to be obtained through teac.de

I followed the appropriate links and downloaded the specified .ZIP file FW_MP-8000-8100_1012.zip (sized 1.518.604 bytes) in order to activate this capability which is of great importance to me.

After having meticulously followed all the steps described in the accompanying PDF file (Howto), the player does NOT offer the cabability of radio reception.

I Followed the same procedure two more times, having thought that the first time something went wrong, but alas: the setup program reports that "OS is OK", thus verufying that the procedure was concluded successfully.

I Inserted a pen tip on the reset hole and did a "hard reset" to the unit, but again the problem occurs : NO FM tuner icon nor FM tuning capability.

Since this particular feature was the conclusive factor to drive me towards purchasing this player, I am utterly dissapointed :( :(

Has anyone encountered the same problem? Is there any knwon newer version of firmware or another method of activationg the FM radio reception?

(p.s. When I perform the "hard reset", the screen turns black and the unit remains powered off. When I power it on again, it looks just like a normal power-up.. even the mp3s on my playlist repain as selected...

Is it the way it is supposed to be? Should I press another button simultaneously?)

Thanx in advance for (any) answers..

The latest firmware does it, I don't know how but it surely enables it.

TEAC MP-8000 playlist limit?? - 10/27/2006 2:25:34 AM

Hi all,
3 days before I read the review for the MP-8000 here in CDRINFO. Also I read and the Users Manual from the Teac.de. So, yesterday I bought the player.

The player has some special futures like  FM radio, Video player, line in mic etc...
Unfortunately, the unit (I think) has a very bad point or not??!
The unit plays mp3 from the internal playlist.
From the playlist option we can add or delete songs or clear all tracks.
(Please note, that we cannot save the playlist with a filename and create a new one)
The playlist supports only 100 mp3 tracks!
So, If I want to add more than 100 tracks, I must delete some tracks from the playlist or clear all tracks and add new tracks!
This is unbelievable! The 20Gb internal hard disk supports about 15000 mp3 tracks and the playlist supports only 100 tracks!
I must "delete and add" songs again and again if I want to play more than 100 tracks!
Do you know if TEAC has any answer about this?
For the CDRINFO isn't this a bad point of the review of Tuesday, July 05, 2005?
If anyone knows something for this, please tell me how can I play more than 100 tracks
http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Reviews/Specific.aspx?ArticleId=14375&PageId=0

Thanks

Nick

Hi nick and thanks for your comments. I assume the reviewer missed to track down that particular negative point you mentioned, as you can imagine, what due to the limited time devices are being tested, there is no way to cover all negative areas. I assume upgrade to the latest firmware may/or not solve your issue

unfortunately the latest firmware doesn't resolve this negative point.
anyway, maybe in the future TEAC develops a  new firmware...
will see...
