hello,

My name is Newbie,

OBJECTIVE: All right, heres the deal, I want to make ps2 backups to

play on my ps2.

EQUIPMENT: I have an S-BOX mod-chip. I don't have a DVD-burner or DVD

writer, or anything special at all.

QUESTION: Where do I start? What should I do, I'm practically needing

to be baby fed the information, thank you all.

First, I suggest a DVD -R recorder, it will be required.

A new mod chip. The meathod of mod chip you are using is not capable of playing any DVD format of game backup...

Tron are you serious man? I have to get a "NEW" modchip?? mine is already soddered in, i can't take it out. Are you sure that S-BOX can't play ps2 backups, the guy who soddered it in for me said that i could. I mean, he's a pro, of course i don't know your background, but this just can't be, i have to be able to play ps2 backups.

Hi StrawBoy and Welcome to Our Forum !!!
Tron is exactly Correct the S-Box USB Mod can't play backed up DVD Games all it was meant for was the CDR games and it is very easy to remove there is only 1 cable to un-solder also it won't even let you play backed up CDR Games unless you have an Action Reply 2 Cartridge plugged in I know this from my own experience as when the PS2 first came out I fitted one to my own PS2 !!!

Well I suggest you return it to the Guy who sold it and fitted it for you and ask him for a refund and get it removed then get one of the Latest DMS3 Mod Chips Fitted as it is the chip of choice among PS2 Gamers and it will :-
1>. Allow you to direct-boot all PS2 games including backups, imports, originals, silvers and DVD9.
2>. Can direct-boot PSX games including backups, imports, originals, and silvers.
3>. Plays any region DVD movies without Macrovision or RGB (green-screen) fixed.
4>. Boot applications such as the PS2 Reality Media Player from memory card as soon as the system starts up

But in the end the choice is yours !!!

You need to get that mod chip removed and get a new one. I heard that the Magic V is a good one, but if you do not know what you are doing you will most surly mess up your machine. Also I do not know the version of PS2 you have, you need to find out so that you can ge the right version of modchip for that machine. The have 10 versions out so you need the right one! You need to locate someone to remove the old one and replace it with a new one. As for making DVD backups of PS2 games, it really is not too hard to do..... I personally use Alcohol 120%, but I know there are other copy programs to do it as well....

Hey LA quick question for you: Do you know if the latest DMS3 Mod Chips work in the PS2 version 10 machines? Thanks........

Thanks LA! Looks like a nice chip! I think I will have to get one! Thanks.... At least with this one you can just download and install updates! Now that is promising!
