Hi Everyone,

Someone from another list suggested I come here to try and find a
solution to my problem.

I have tried a number of CD Burning applications, NERO, CD Clone,
Alcohol, etc, etc and none of them work properly.....if at all.

I have copied some CDs, but most of the time I can't. Can't even remember if it was CD Clone or NERO that I was able to use once or twice. Currently the only apps I have installed are NERO and CD Clone.

Neither of these will copy a CD. CD Clone goes through the motions as though everything is cool, even gives you the thumbs up music, but
there is nothing on the CD, although you can see that it has been
written to.

When I open NERO (5.0.1.6) the file reader can read the files and do a directory.

Using the Wizard and selecting CD Copy the "source drive" is grayed out.

When I select "autodetect" it shows both drives as unsupported. The other is also a Samsung ......SD 612.

I'm running Win2KPro, which was installed on a HP which came with the drives and either ME or XP. I had to make some hardware and software changes when I installed Win2K in order to get it to work properly..........if it has even ever worked properly (smile).

I'm gonna upgrade my box (1.2Ghz) before long, but in the meantime, I'd like to be able to make backup copies.

BTW, I don't have the NERO CD. It was downloaded and registered.

Samsung referred me to NERO and I haven't heard back from NERO.

Any help will be appreciated. I hear there is a NERO expert on this
forum!

5.0.x.x is a pretty old version - if your registration covers you for 5.5 (and AFAIK, a 5.0 one does, unless you were already on an upgrade to 5.0 from a 4.0) - that should have far more supported drives.

Do you mean WinXP Pro? - pretty sure Nero 5.0 is way too old to support XP ... came in at about 5.5.5.1 if I recall?

Previous version updates are here...

I belive the 5.5 is actually an installable - the 5.0.4.8 is a small update only, though Nero50.exe (install) is also on the FTP.

With 5.5, all the versions tended to be DEMO / Registerable / Update in one.

PS. CCampbell is the expert on Nero

Mind you, it sounds like it's more than a Nero problem, if none of them work, unless that old version of Nero has screwed it up!
