Now that we've been introduced I'll see if I can explain my problem. apparently I have version cdd4801 of philibs cd r/rw drive. firmware version c2.1 according to the nero tool. I could not locate an update to the 2.5 drive for this model on the firmware page provided. My comp is a presario 5000 with windows ME, compaq 0708h motherboard and compaq 786k3 bios.

The problem I have is that the cd burner will stop 1/2 way through burning a cd. I have burned a few in the past with no problem, but do not show any error in the devise.

One other question for the smart people, does the bios information provide any clue to you whether or not a bios update could/should be done in order to run my redeon 9000 128 mb video card. When I try to set the bios to recognize the mb on the video card, it says I cannot go above 32mb setting.

Pesronally i haven't test it,i don't own the drive, the update its up to your own risk.
What software are you using fow writing?i assume that you are using nero, do you have the change to try an alternative programme?

Also, have you recently installed "another" burning software in addition to the one you normally use that could be causing a conflict?
