You do not have to install the other firmwares first, just go ahead and install the new firmware and you'll be all set.

What's new in this release:
  • Improved writing quality for DVD+R & DVD-R media.
  • Added SolidBurn Technology.
  • Added Overspeed ability. (Enable via QSuite 2.0)

Go straight to BSKB...and don't forget to download QSuite 2.0 to work with the firmware...

What is SolidBurn? I've had such great results with BSJB that i dunno if solidburn and 'better dvd+R' writing is 'better.' Anyone test this puppy out yet?

SolidBurn is supposedly a learning technology that allows for better writing on discs made by manufacturers not specifically recognized by the firmware.  There is an article about it here: http://cdrinfo.com/Sections/News/Details.aspx?NewsId=14396

Hi
I've been happy with BSJB. However BSKB along with  Solid Burn takes things to another place. See posting  # 233 here

Hi
& finally # 3
The source disc was the same & although MCC 004 is supported I cleared the memory & engaged Solid Burn. Notice the improvement that takes place. Good don't you think.

damn! i like that last attachment. I see in that other thread that people are getting near 99/98 quality burns with this firmware. Is SolidBurn turned On by default? or do i need qsuite2.0 to go in and enable it in BSKB?

Hi
If media is supported then Solid Burn is turned off by default.
If media isn't supported then Solid Burn is turned on by default.
Using tools in QSuite2 you can override these settings.
This is what I did with MCC 004 as it's supported by the drives f/w & I wanted to test the capabilities of Solid Burn.

I know that MCC 004 is supported for this burner. So i got to thinking .... What if I turn SolidBurn on and use MCC 004? Would that mean it will learn from its already 95% quality and possibly get around 99% as i burn with that disc more?

Hi

skuDZ if you look at my previous posts you'll see I've already done this. When you select solid burn it treats media as unknown, starting a learning curve. The end result will give burn quality around 98/99%, but you may find that you've wasted a couple of discs getting there.

BenQ Q-Suite
QSuite is an innovative application suite that both compliments & enhances the convenience of DVD recording technology. Through use of the five functions: Book Type Management, QScan, Test Write, WOPC enable/disable, Solid Burn, you can easily adjust drive swttings in order to gain greater control.
So it's not a recording s/w like Nero or Alcohol 120%.
