My cdd 6911 is not recognized anymore in windows 98SE. The configuration/systems/devices/cdrom shows only "yyyyyyyyyyyy yyyyyyyyyyy" as the name of the cdr. This problem occured when installing CloneCD and copying a cd. As the computer locked up at that moment, I restarted. After the restart Windows began to install somekind of hardware. Since then the drive isn't recognized anymore. I formatted my harddrive and installed windows 98se again, flashed my bios, installed the latest VIA 4 in 1 chipset drivers,....nothing helps. Even in my bios the cdr isn't recognized anymore. The IDE channels are ok (tested). It seems to me that the firmware of the cdr needs to be updated. So I downloaded the Philips flash tool. ooops...I can't use this tool, because it doesn't find any Philips drives to update (No compatible drives found! Can anyone tell me: 1. Is it a failure off the firmware of the drive 2. How can I flash the drive under the above mentionned circumstances? THX
