Ive bought yesterday PC speakers ..
Creative Inspire 4.1 4400
and I want to check them out .. I already gotten some MP3-320 and MPC files .. which suppose to have lossless quality .. more than normal MP3-128 files ..
Now some people told me that there are some better file formats which gives better lossless qualiy files ..
can some1 give me the extensions or those file names ?
and maybe even send me some file .. I just wanna test my new speakers ..
and Yeah .. I already tried some CDs .. Im one of those people that actually buys CDs from time to time ;)
I also tried the Blues Brothers CD I got .. which is kinda old ..
Im thinkin' about connectin' the vinyl machine .. forgot how its called in english .. to my PC and check it out ...

is there a site with testin' music for download ?
a friend of mine already send me some Nvidia test song .. in some high quality ..
Im lookin' for something that uses the whole surround effect ..

If you need good quality, MP3 and WMA over 160kbps are quite good, where low frequencies are good, meaning the subwoofer. At lower bitrates the subwoofer will be poor.

Well .. at the moment Im listenin' to some tune :
MPEG 1.0 layer 3
192kbit, 4096 frames
44100Hz Joint Stereo

and it sounds great ..
I also managed to get alot of files with 320kbit and some in FLAC, MPC and OGG formats ...
they all sound great !
is there some software that actually shows you the differences ?
I can barely manage to hear the difference in quality .. but some times I do notice the change .. when I take a song and listen to it in 5 diff. formats and bit rates ..

Yeap, it is not to easy to notice the difference with a normal audio system.

There is no need for higher bitrates than 256, which is close to CD quality, although it is said it is for the 320.

I think Adobe has a software which might help you, Audition if I am not wrong.

PS. Do you know of some song (remix) that uses the surround feature ?
cause I know that some mixes use Left and Right speakers ... or several channels .. like hearin' guitars in one speaker and mroe vocal in the other ...

Of all that has been said here...FLAC is by my opinion Best-Of-The-Best....

I few days ago a friend of mine brought me some songs in FLAC format....and must say that havent heard such brilliant sound yet in my PC... Really! MP3 sucks when compared to this! Even @ 320Kbps...

Dont know what its bitrate is otherwise...but the songs that I've listened to were in 1411Kbps...so You can imagine that its really much much better than MP3's 320Kbps.... It was so clear....so deep...You could almost imagine Yourself standing between the audience there (since they were some live recordings from one of  U2's concerts...)

I could only wish game manufacturers will include FLAC supported sounds and effects into their newly released bestsellers... Their only "downpoint" (because of its lossless codec) is large filesize...i.e....if same Mp3 is some 5MB...FLAC will be around 30 up to maybe 50MB...(but with todays almost 1TB HDD's around...that shouldnt be a problem)

Of course FLAC will be good... it's free LOSSLESS audio codec, and like any other lossless audio codec, it is the same quality as the original - the battle in lossless codecs (and there are quite a few) is not quality, but compression, and the only options normally trade slower encoding for a touch more compression.

The battle in the lossy codecs, is to achieve acceptable quality at a target bitrate, or an acceptable bitrate/filesize while delivering an appropriate quality... Constant size or constant quality modes.

its really hard to find FLAC files ..
most of the stuff I got is MPC, MP3-192 and MP3-320, OGG and 4 songs in FLAC ...
hope it will become more common ..
