I would first like to state that I do not support or take any blame for criminal activities that break the current copy write laws. This is only for I repeat only for PERSONAL BACKUP COPPIES of WarCraft III The Frozen Throne (TFT).

ok ok ok, some of you have probably tried to make a backup of TFT and have failed. This is caused a lot by hardware problems not software. A lot of the hardware that is outdated by 6 months do not support needed features such as buffer underrun technology (as well as many others). One drive that does work is the "Lite-ON LTR-52246s 52x24x52" ($50), which I currently have. So I recommend not doing this if your cd burner is out of date (1 year and older) because you may have a million coasters by the end of the day. Right now my system setup is - athlon xp 2600, 2.8Ghz, 512 MB pc2700 RAM, Westerndigital 40 GB ata133 7200rpm HD, ASUS A7V8X-X 333fsb motherboard, Gainward GeForce4 128DDR, and of course my Lite-ON LTR-52246s 52x24x52. O and by the way your CD writer may be required to read and write sub-Channel data (most newer ones can). Also if your CD writer does not support sub-channel data your DVD player and/or writer may do the trick.

Ok now that we know what our hardware issue is, we need to focus on software. Your first item is Alcohol 120% for the reading and writing. Next you’ll need the BlindWrite Suite (The patin-couffin layer must be installed for the BWA builder to function) for the SecuRom New 4.x. The last program you will need is TwinPeak V0.2. Once all the programs are installed you can start the reading process. Open Alcohol 120% and go to "Image making wizard". When this screen pops up select your drive and TFT disk. You’ll want to select "SecuRom *New" (Not SecuRom *New 4.x) because that can only be run with Emulation software. Click next and specify that the image be saved as a Clone CD image file. Now save your file.

Next you need to open the "BlindWrite Physical CD characteristic dumper". Select the drive that your TFT cd is in and specify the read speed. I recommend 1x-8x so that you get a smooth curve, and not too many spikes. You most likely wont get a perfect curve but one or two big spikes wont hurt (especially if there not in the first 50,000 sectors). (I had a bunch of big spikes at the end running up at 20x and the final product sill worked, but I still recommend 1x-8x). Once completed you need to save your BWA file. If you get a really messed up graph then you may be able to download one from the net.

Now you need to open your TwinPeak program. Press the select your CCD file, and do so. And Select your BWA file, do so. And then hit start. (I like to leave the numbers at the bottom in default because that seems to work on most drives.) A window should come up with a lot of numbers on it, hit ok. Wait for the patching process to complete. (You are adding the phisical characteristics to the CCD files) In the same folder as your CCD files you should have three new files titled "Patched". These are the files you will burn. Load up Alcohol 120% and click on “Image Burning Wizard”. Select your “Patched” files. The page should look something like this:

------------------------------------------------------------------

Type: CloneCD Image file
Path: C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\Alcohol 120%\TFT\
Name: Patched.ccd
Patched.img
Patched.sub
Size: 591.43 MB
Session: 1
Track: 1

Session 01:
Track 01: Mode 1, Length: 246264(481.0 MB), Address: 000000

------------------------------------------------------------------

Click next and on this page select the “SecuRom *NEW” for the data type since we have patched the files to account for the 4.x part of it. Since were burning information that requires precision I recommend burning at around 8x that’s what I was told and that’s what worked for me. Only “Enable Buffer Underrun Technology” should be checked. “RAW DAO” should be selected. Burn speed 8x and of course “SecuRom *NEW” should be selected (Not SecuRom *NEW 4.x)(try using a cd-rw to make sure it works) Then hit start… Before burning you'll be warned that the image size doesn't match the lead-out specified in the toc and you'll be given three burning options. The first option is correct: "Keep TOC as on source cd, write until end of image file"... And you should have a working copy of TFT if you followed my directions carefully. Hope this helps you all whove been trying to do this for a while.

Hey I am now posting a link to my site that has my two BWA files for WC3 TFT. I also included TwinPeak for those of you who can find it on the web. Good Luck.

Lemme know if it works. Cheers

There are the two places you can download the trials. But next time you can try a search engine to get immediate results. Cheers

Hi, as though I followed the really good instructions carefully I couldn't get it to work with my hardware. It stays loading with the CD-mouse-cursor on for a couple of minutes then sais "couldn't locate CD...yadayada"

I tried with two systems, both with reading and writing speeds of 4x on all steps required.

1.) DVD-Reader Toschiba SD 1612, CD-Writer LiteOn 32x12x40
2.) DVD-Reader / CD-Writer Toshiba SD-R1312

I guess the hardware is out of date?

well, i did the instruction stated above, and everything went fine until the final step: using alcohol 120% to burn the clone cd image, the burning process aborted due to some errors. then i use blindwrite to burn the image, and it works. well, the loading time is a bit longer than the orginal, but other than that, everything is the same, hehe. thanks, guys, but still don't know y my alcohol won't burn it. and the BWA image i got has over 40 big spikes :( so have to use the one on the net.

Well im glad that it worked for you, i think the reason you had so many spikes was because of your drive, and the speed you read the CD at. Im glad that you could get the BWA files of the net. Also the version of your Alcohol may have to do with your CD drive not working. Also some times patched CCD files wont work well with Alcohol. Well anyways im glad it worked. Cheers
