From my tests, X64 seems somewhat faster when HDD being used, but there are some competibilty issues, Alcohol 120% doesn't work at all, WinRar cannot use the shell extensions, probably its a matter of time before those problems fixed

Indeed in my tests the HDD performance was better on x64 (this can be noticed on the PCMark results on the review).
Alcohol 120% and Daemon tools has already start beta testing on 64-bit versions. Except a release soon. I suppose that winrar will also release a 64-bit version soon.

With no doubt, moving to 64-bit applications is a major step beyond. This is a revolution considering the hardware achievements in procession power, together with faster memory sets and graphics circuits.

Nice work ExoSkeletor. I am looking forward to see your new article when pure 64-bit applications will be widely available.

We will update this review when we will have 3 or more games 64-bit games to test and 3 or more 64-bit programs that are not in a beta stage.You must except even better results on Windows XP x64.
I have just test far cry 64-bit and find this: 1 GB ram is not enough. before anyone moves to x64 he must merember that at least 1gb ram is needed. The correspodence on windows xp and windows x64 for the memory is more than 1/3. (That means if you have 256mb on windows xp, more than 768 is needed on x64 due to kernel needs).
God im still remember the old times, when i was using amiga and 200mb was my hard disk space...

I have used x64 with 512MB ram, didn't had any problem, but then again didn't made any serious gaming or application use

yes when i say you need more that 768 i mean if you are running a lot of programs and you want to see difference from windows xp. Try to install oracle server with the same amount of memory in both os
