Remark:

I went to BestBuy after reading this late last night (only store near me that carry's plextor) and there is no new TLA there, I would LOVE to see what firmware is on them though! . I am overall disappointed with the greatly anticipated firmware, as it still does not reach the advertised speed of 16x even with Power Rec disabled!

Probably way too soon to start seeing new TLA's on the shelves. It seems like the TLA 0304 are finally readily available on the shelves now...definitely still some 0203's out there too.

A week after i got my RMA'ed TLA:0000 back as TLA:0101 the TLA:0203 came out what letdown that was.

bestbuy fullerton, CA, USA had one plextor 716a on Weds, when I was buying media I looked at TLA label it was 0203 made in china

Not sure, but it does seem it would have to be a "hardware" revision.

To prove my posts about 1.05 being junk. I did the following test, from the same sleeve, Verbatim 16X +R (MCC004):

Very strange, the writing quality has went down the tubes with at least this Verbatim Premium Media.

1.04beta ???? I seen 1.04u but never 1.04beta your saying they had beta using 1.04 code that is better then 1.05 release, this makes no sense. But who said dvdrw makers have to make sense.

Ken,

Yes, I have the beta 1.04 (was released before 1.04) and from all the burns I've done (over a hundred with 1.04b) it is the best firmware that I've seen so far, even 1.04II or 1.04U was not as good as 1.04b. I've flashed back to 1.04b and will remain there, until Plextor gets it together.

The changelog didn't mention any, and to be honest, there was no improvement needed since 1.04 was released.
