Hi guys,

I've just found out that Philips has released firmware for DVDR1620K DVDR1625K DVDR1640K DVDR1645K DVDR1640P which is version P3.4, but unluckily i could not find the firmware for my PBDV1640B (Black OEM version) writer !

According to the pdf file that came with updater here are the changes from 3.2 to 3.4:

Changes from firmware P3.2 to P3.3
• Improved write quality on DVD+R discs.
Changes from firmware P3.3 to P3.4
• Improved write quality on DVD+R 16x discs.

Now does anyone have this new version's PBDV1640B/G/P updater file (B 3.4) ?

If so, can you provide me a link to download ? Thanks :)

PS: P series firmware is not compatible with B series !

I think minos is talking with Philips. Maybe he can ask for it.

Any news on the B3.4 version yet? Just bought one of these drives and would like to go straight to latest firmware...

Here is an update from me:

- I PMed to Minos he/she said that as soon as he would find the file let me know. but i think he didn't find the fw so he hadn't write me back. i wanna thank him anyway.

- Then i e-mailled to Philips support and got that answer:

Dear Mr *,

Recently you have asked us support for your drive.

Your drive is a bulk version drive of Philips.
At the moment our website is under construction.
You can wait until the needed information will be listed on our website
but if you need to have this quick you can check on www.cdrinfo.com and use that.
Please note that the release of the firmware is the original release from the
manufacturer (Philips) and therefore this is the qurantee that this can be trusted.

What I understand from that message is they do update their site at the moment and because of this they cant provide the file. But pointing out this is site for a non existing fw here is not so nice...

And i do appreciate for that... I hope you'll host B3.4 or newer too for those of us who uses the Bulk version 1640B/G
