Hello there, I have a friend who is trying to help me here since I just got a DVD bunner for Christmas and he told me to come here. He sais that Firmware make your DVD Burn speed go faster. I wanted to know if there was anything like this for my DVD mark? I guess its the same as the one on the TITTLE '_NEC DVD+RW ND-3100AD'.

Also, I burnned a DVD with the MOVIE Saw. What I did was use DVD Santa to turn the SAW.avi to DVD format. This made 2 folders, AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS. I burnned thoes 2 folders into a DVD and put it on my PC and it wokred perfect. Now I tryed it on my DVD burner and it didnt work. I used the 'KHypermedia' DVD brand. Can anyone help me out and tell me why it didnt play on my DVD player? Does the brand matter?

Thankx for all your help.

I think your 3100 is a 3500 but the name is different due to marketing reasons. Where are you located?

You can use any hacked 3500 firmware you want, just make sure to be region free for not having problems with your region.[:)]

KHypermedia is your drive or the media?

If you want a movie to be playable in non PC dvd players make sure you burned it as DVD-Video project, from Nero for example. If you just copy the folders this cannot be played exept from your PC's drive.

If I didn't understand correctly, due to my english, please tell me.[:)]

Updating my own post to correct myself...

This thread has a special hack by Liggy to get the 3100 to really work with DVD-R(W) media.
FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS EXACTLY

Afterwards you should be able to flash any NEC-3500 firmware (not sure about the official ones)...

The booktype bitsetting is probably all you need to get your DVD player to read the burned DVD+ media though.

I am a newby to this site. I couldn't figure out how to post a new message so I am replying to this one in the hopes that someone will be able to help me. I want to create backups of my Movie DVD's. I am thinking about purchasing 1 Click DVD Copy software based on online ratings. I want to know if this is a good software to use and what would be the best DVD burner to use. Also, I had a person who says that the - is better that the + to burn DVD's. Does this make any difference?

Also, can a new member post a new message?

Looks like he figured out how to post. Can a moderator nuke his post & my reply?

Hey Iggy, ty for all your help. Well, the KHypermedia is my DVD brand, no tthe player, the MEDIA I guess we call it. Can you tell me were I can get the hacked 3500 firmware. I live in Flroida, US. Also, I used nero to burn the VIDEO_TS folder, and I get this MSG, it must be why I cant see on a normal DVD. Can you tell me how to fix this?

I really want to burn movies to take them to my GIRLs house and see it there. I just rather make her happy and then she makes me happy. LOL. THanks dudes.

EDIT: Now I know why it dont play on my DVD, cause it dotn read DVD+R. Although other bootleg movies do play, whast what I want to learn to make. Any ideas on that?

You're not using the right project from Nero Express...either that or it's a bug. Make sure you're using the latest since they have fixed quite a lot of bugs recently.

If your DVD player can read other DVD+R media, then perhaps you need to set the booktype (aka bitsetting) to DVD-ROM. You can do this if you have a hacked or OEM version of the NEC 3500A firmware. I believe Emperor recommended using the v2.18 official or v2.28 (IO-DATA OEM build) if you want bitsetting.

If you want to play with over-speeding media (risky if you ask me), then you can try Quikee's firmwares.

BTW, bootleg movies are illegal. Suggest you keep your questions scoped to backups...

Just one more thing, is there any way to make my Burnner burn at any faster speed than 8x? Thanxk.

Iggy -> RE: [INFO]_NEC DVD+RW ND-3100AD (1/27/2005 2:12:12 AM)

For NEC drives you can find firmwares below:

http://tdb.rpc1.org/

or

http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?category=4&manufactor=23

As for the speed it depends on what media do you have.

The 8x is probably the current max speed of your media. Your burner should support up to 16x with 16x media...of course that's just a peak burning speed...but that's another story.

If you're talking about over-speeding your 8x media, then you can try one of the Quikee firmwares above. You need to first toggle the drive to be a NEC ND-3500 first. Use the link I posted above with the "FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS EXACTLY" in it.
