Topher -> Pioneer 108 set as master? (12/30/2004 12:09:11 PM)

I just got a Pioneer 108 & want to upgrade the firmware to Gradius' 118. On the secondary IDE, I have a Hitachi DVD ROM set as master & the Pioneer set as slave. When I run DVRFLASH, it mentions an incorrect function & says it cannot open device. Is this because it's set as slave?

Thanks.

No
It means you are using the incorrect command line or a non compatible version of DVRFlash. Unfortunately I cannot advise you the correct command line as you give insufficient details for a suitable diagnosis of your problem.
This problem has been discussed numerous times in the firmware forum, & I suggest a visit would enlighten you http://forum.rpc1.org

O.k., I'll take a look. I did do a search in this forum for cannot open device & got 2 hits for the LG 4160, which suggested that it had to be set as master.
I unzipped the files to d:\dvrflash
I opened a command prompt, went to that folder & used the command:
dvrflash -v f:R8100108.118
Using the nomenclature in the readme file, it appeared as:
d:\dvrflash>dvrflash -v f:R8100108.118

This command line is definately wrong d:\dvrflash>dvrflash -v f:R8100108.118
Assuming you have selected the correct drive letter "F" for your drive the command line should have been d:\dvrflash>dvrflash -v f: R8100108.118 Note the GAP BETWEEN f: R8100108.118 the full error message you recieved would have indicated this.
