Gswiss -> cd does not play on standalone reader (11/21/2004 4:07:48 PM)

I would like to selectively rip songs from two cd’s in order to burn them to one single cd. The operation succeeds but the resulting cd is not readable on a standalone cd player.

I used Nero 6.6.0.1 to create the audio disk. I picked the songs and carried out the burning. I ended up with a cd containing CDA files which were indices to the songs I selected.

In another instance, I recorded the songs as mp3 on a data cd and still could not get them to play on the standalone.

What is the best procedure to obtain a standalone readable cd?

My burner is a Plextor 40/12/40A

You're going to need to "rip" the files to wma first, or rip them to MP3, and then let Nero code them (when you burn an audio CD)

I suggest using EAC, it's free and one of the best rippers available.

You can get it here:

just select download from the lefthand menu, then download the prebeta download.

MP3 format might be not supported by your standalone player.

As for utility I also use EAC, it's just the best.

I used EAC and burnt the audio cd at low speed using Nero and everything turned out fine. Thanks for your help.
