Rimbaud -> "Copy Control" brand of copy protection? (11/3/2004 8:12:02 PM)

I'd like to make backups of some audio CD's that are shown to contain "Copy Control" technology (with a little "C" inside a big "C" logo). Is this a specific type of copy control, or just a generic lable used for various copy control formats? These discs are on european Blue Note lables.

I'm considering purchasing a Pioneer A08XLA, but it's inability to recognize Key2Audio protected discs (per the review here) concerns me with regard to the above mentioned discs.

Also, does audio CD copy protection also affect the ability to rip CD's (particularly to a lossless format)?

Get EAC software. This is the best to help you for this. Run the software and make sure to select only the music files to rip, as below:

In the specific case ignore the last track, which is the "protection".

If a drive is capable to read/rip Key2Audio or CDS200 then you won't have problems.

Thanks for the info. I guess the Pioneer's inability to recognize Key2Audio may be a problem. I wonder if that is something that can/will be fixed by a firmware update?
