V3.41 add a new function which can detect the burner use to create the DVD-R(RW) media. Just select ADVANCED COMMANDS -> Read burn info from media DVD-R/RW , it can show the burner information. It means that when you write the DVD-R media, it also records your burner's information into the disc!

I might want to point out as NicW's beta tester, that this fun command, only works on some dvdrw drive not all have the command code to read the burner string. I also might want to point out that ver 3.41 is old and you really should get the newer release 3.43 it has some bug fix, and also does this little trick.

interesting, i also believe that the SN of the burner is written at the disc for tracking picary reasons

The firs "Advaced command" in DVDinfoPro, called: "Read BURN INFO from media DVD-R/RW"
gives me the following answer: and only with a DVD-R media (burned with Nero 6)

Info on burner used to create this disc
Vendor (manufacturer) // serial number // Product ("model")

The serial number remains unchanged if you flash the drive with a un-official firmware which changes the 2 other indications.

I have not been able to get any information
- from a DVD-RW burned media
- and of course from any DVD+R/+RW burned media even burned with bitsetting to DVD-ROM (Mad DOG writer with 2.F9 firmware)
Is there a planed upgrade of DVDinfoPro that will allow us to do read this information on all burned DVD discs in the near future ? (I use version 3.47 at the moment)

I wonder where exactly this information is recorded on the DVD? Is it repeated several times as one time in the "lead in" and one time in the "lead out" ?
