TheRick -> Nero\ Title (CD Text): and Artist (CD Text) ? (1/23/2003 7:36:59 PM)

Ok, you ever put a cd in your pc (and your not online to download info about cd) and within Media Player you see the artist and name of the song? Well, how do I stamp that info on a home made Audio CD (not Mp3’s), (I'm making a regular cd for reg. cd players.) With Nero (Ver. 5.5.10) I select the files I want, then right click it, the Title (CD Text): and Artist (CD Text) are filled out with what I want, but when I burn the cd, the Title and Artist do not show up. Any idea how I can get this to work?[?]

This cannot be accomplished with Windows Media Player, as it does not write CD Text. You will need a program that supports CD Text, such as Nero. It is an excellent Audio Mastering Program also.

Ok, I use Nero, and that's what I'm tring to do, is writhe the text to the cd so it can be viewed, but it's not working.

The text won't be viewed in Media Player no matter what you do. I was trying to explain that previously. Media player does not support CD Text. The reason it had the title and artist before is because it catalogues the discs you insert into your pc so the next time you put it in, it recognizes the disc.. This is different from CD Text, as CD Text information is written for the Artist, CD Title, Track Names, Numbers, Copyright Info.. etc.....

Once you have created your Audio-CD compilation, open the Compilation Info dialog box from the menu File. You can now enter the title of the CD and the name of its artist (maximum 64 characters).
Furthermore, you can give a name to each audio tracks of your compilation and the name of the corresponding artist by double-clicking on the audio tracks. In the dialog box, which will be then displayed, you will find the CD Text information settings.
Important: CD Text information can only be written by using the disc-at-once writing mode. Make sure that this option has been selected in the "Write" property sheet.

You can now click on the "Write" button. I copied this from the Nero help menu. I should say as my player does not support CD text reading I have not used it. Good Luck

It does work fine, I use it on a daily basis. My car MP3 Player reads CD Text, and Nero works great with it. Happy Burning!

I 've got the same problem as TheRick. When i play an audio cd with Media Player i can see the cd-text (=artist+songtitle), so Media Player can read cd-text. When i want to copy this cd with Nero 5.5.10.7 it want read the cd-text, gives only the number of the tracks. So i must fill the cd-text (=artist+songtitle) in and than burn it. So i think that Nero can't read cd-text. My recorder (plextor PX-W1610A) supports cd-text (recorder info (Nero) shows also that my recorder supports cd-text). Or am i wrong?

MP3Mogul -> RE: Nero\ Title (CD Text): and Artist (CD Text) ? (2/13/2003 3:37:57 AM)

That's because MediaPlayer CANNOT read CD Text. It stores (In archive form) the CD Title, Track Name And Artist, from when you inserted the CD, it does not read nor write CD Text, it is keeping a library only of the CD's that you have played, thus this is why this information is not displayed in Nero from your files that you have previously played with MediaPlayer. I hope that this did not confuse you. If you desire to have CD Text, you will need to rip the files to MP3Format, and then edit the track TAGS, this information will contain the CDText information that you are desiring for Nero.
An EXCELLENT program for editing track tags (MP3Format) is MusicMatch, it has SUPER TAGGING and is also FREE, did I mention FREE, it is not disabled in any way if you do not register it. You can find it at www.musicmatch.com. Happy Burning!
