thank you LOTS LOTS LOTS for keeping in touch. MY FRIEND i just cant understand why the whole world rips mp3s while i cant although mycdrom supports DAE....i have found a few (very few in fact!) resources about my cdrom drive Hitachi 8330: (very good PDF with tech details of my Hitachi) http://www.hitachistorage.com/assets/applets/CDR833x_inst.pdf two more sites...... http://www.pctoday.com/editorial/hardware/970817.html?guid=rqahjmy0 http://user.glo.be/~erikd/dae_hitachi8330.htm and another site was displaying this chart: --------------------------------------------------------- The models which support DAE: (Sorted by DAE speed, data speed and model) CD-ROM model..............................DAE.....Data...Interface --------------------------------------------------------- PLEXTOR..CD-ROM PX-32TS..........16x.....16x....SCSI TEAC.....CD-524E...........................14x.....24x....IDE CREATIVE.CD620E..........................12x.....5x.....IDE PIONEER..CD-ROM DR-A04S..........11x.....32x....IDE PIONEER..CD-ROM DR-U12X..........10x.....12x....SCSI HITACHI..CDR-8330........................9x......24x....IDE SONY.....CD-ROM CDU711...............9x......14x....IDE ------------------------------------------------------------ unfortunately all these infos i managed to gather (lots of google surfing involved...) didnt help me much as i feel a bit lost with all the values involved... you might be so kind as to find some spare time and have a look at those links and maybe make some sense of it all....... I cant....... I have been trying for the last 30 days to encode tracks but the final result is always the same ::::::::::::: very poor. very distorted and jumpy mp3s.......i have changed many different configurations of both CD and MP3 settings of several different encoders..AUDIOGRABBER, CDEX, MUSICMATCH, ZLURP, MP3PRODUCER, FREERIP, to name a few.....but unfortunately no good results ever. All i managed to understand by those links i gave you before is that my cd rom drive SUPPORTS DAE (thank GOD) but I also know my CD rom Drive HITACHI 8330 firmware 0007 is OLD and with some limitations for CD extraction and for my model SIA is not accurate... I have learnt all this from this page of another ripping sofware called ZLURP http://www.zlurp.com/zlurp/cdrom Please check it out..it shows how Hitachi8330 SIA is "not accurate".......... so i know i have to keep changing the jitter correction values to get good mp3 encoding............ I have also tested the encoded files with MP3tester and these are the results ...just to show you a couple of the many configurations i have used Testing ID3v1 found: The Wake (IQ) First frame invalid Resync: 626 Bytes at 0 (0%) 192kbit, 44100hz, Stereo, Crc: No Frames: 9006 Errors: 1 (0,02%) -- NOT OK -- Done. Testing ID3v1 found: The Wake (IQ) First frame invalid Resync: 417 Bytes at 0 (0%) 128kbit, 44100hz, Joint Stereo, Crc: No Frames: 9006 Errors: 1 (0,02%) -- NOT OK -- Done. I am sorry about my ignorance but I can keep changing jitter settings for months an still without getting the right results...I am desperate.......... I dont know if u can help me achieving CDquality encoded MP3 with my drive ?????????? Maybe you tell me i should buy a new drive but unfortunately at the moment i cant afford it......What can i do? I am in your hands MP3 MOGUL, thanks for all your help i do appreciate reading you speak u soon hopefully ciao Claudio WINDOWS 98 SE Pentium 200Mhz (I know..i need more power...) RAM 96MB
