Fairly new to the burning scene and unless I am seeing things nero have made it pretty easy to covert mp3 into normal audio cd's!. The reason I say this is because I stuck a blank cd in, dragged some mp3 files into nero's audio cd section and clicked burn and at the end of it all I had a cd that played in my old cd/stereo and car cd player. Which I am fairly sure due to their ages neither are mp3 compatible. So could it possible be this easy, as from past experience with all things computer you have to tweak and then tweak some more, plz plz tell me it is so, I am running nero 6.3.0.0. I was considering replacing my cd/car stereo with an mp3 compatible one but now am wondering if there is much point when it will play the ones I burn in nero

Cheers

If you start an Audio CD project in Nero, then it will convert MP3 to audio CD - most half-decent burn programs all do!

The issues that do arise are:

1. Some don't like VBR (older Easy Cd Creator, particularly)

2. MP3's with 44.1KHz sample rate (not bitrate!) are well tolerated - if mono, they will probably be doubled to dead centre stereo.

3. Sample rates of 22.05kHz and 11.025KHz may be upsampled 2x or 4x without complaint

4. Sample rates of 48, 32, 24, 16 or 8KHz do not have a simple comversin to CD standard - some programs can do the "hard" conversion, while many others will reject them

http://sox.sourceforge.net/ - Sox is reckoned to be one of the best converters around - if you read the info, the polyphase has the best performance in everything except speed, band limited resample in the middle, and linear interpolation (the easy software method) fares quite badly

I'm trying to burn other than music on a CD, but I want to be able to play it in a regular CD player--specifically, the audio of some radio shows that are available on the internet. They say the download is in mp3. So, I used Nero and burned to Audio CD but it won't play. I think it's because I don't have tracks on my newly-burned CD. I thought that an hour's show (that lasts about 45 min.) would be one track but it won't play either in a portable CD player or the car stereo.

I'd appreciate any help you can offer me.

Are these MP3's protected?

No. The programs are available to members of the site for download.

Well, I solved my problem--I was using CD-RW discs (thinking if it didn't work I could re-use the disc). When I used an ordinary CD-R everything worked fine. Live and learn!

Unless an audio player says it's CD-RW compatible, it probably isn't.

Some older players aren't even 100% CD-R compatible....

If you have trouble playing/seeking some tracks - maybe it plays the first few and then drops out, or won't play from the start, that's usually a sign that it doesn't like CD-R, or at least, not that media/speed/burner combination.
