woodworker -> winaspi.dll problem solved. INCD wont run (10/19/2002 4:54:26 PM)

Im new here and not sure where to post this. My apoligies if this is the wrong area. If so please guide me. thank you

I installed MGI videowave 5 and it causes Nero not to function properly. In its cab file is 2 winaspi.dll files which replaced the one in c:\windows\system folder. It may have also replaced some other files I'm not sure. Nero has always worked for me before and I know the problem is caused my VW5 because I have another system and thats when Nero stopped working right. All it can do is image files also. Goback put that system in running order with nero.

The error I get in Nero is: The Win-ASPI file "?.?" can not be found,
therefore you can currently select image recorders. This missing file is one of the Windows 95/98/Me files. Please fix this problem and restart Nero. (Error 15: Mismatched componets!)

I believe when I used SFC it put back winaspi.dll 4/23/99 back in c:\windows\system. I'm using Win98SE, Amd 1 gig, TDK 16/12/40, 512m ram, the lastest nero. If you need any more info, I'll see if I can get it.

Ok that helped in starting Nero correctly w/o errors, thanx, haven't tried burning yet.
I still have problems in starting InCd. The error I get is illegal operation and will be shut down. INCD caused an invalid page fault in module INCD.exe

yeaaaaaaa I'm a happy camper, well 98% anyway, the 2 % is a different beast not related to cd-rom. Reinstalling INCD worked just fine, still didnt try burning a cd but that shouldnt be a prob.

Took me long time to found you had a forum and got reasonable time responses.

Thanx you guys, alot.

I have the same problem woodworker posted with a winaspi.dll problem on a MGI video 5 installation, my Nero wont burn. When I went to the link the LA gave woodworker on topic ID=6059 and went to the sapi fix link, the trail ends to find the solution. I need the solution to the problem??[8]

Twilight Seraphim -> RE: winaspi.dll problem solved. INCD wont run (7/24/2003 3:51:43 AM)

Same problem. I updated Nero to 5.5.10.42 and get the same error message as woodworker. Traced both sublinks and downloaded the file. Unfortunately its out of date and won`t install. But it indicates that my winaspi.dll are incorrect.
Any help is appreciated.

MP3Mogul -> RE: winaspi.dll problem solved. INCD wont run (7/24/2003 4:06:17 PM)

Twilight are you using windows XP? If you are, the link is not out of date. It's ASPI 4.60, this is the most stable version for windows XP, any layer above that has caused problems with XP Users. If you are using XP, remove your old ASPI and then install from the above link.

Twilight Seraphim -> RE: winaspi.dll problem solved. INCD wont run (7/24/2003 8:12:35 PM)

Unfortunately no WinXp. Running WinME. The ASPI error message indicates its not properly installed. And that one or more of the components has been replaced by older versions of the software.
But, when I try and install using the method in the txt file, I get an error in aspi32.exe that says there are no qualified Adaptec products detected. And that I should re-install the product and run the utility update instead.
Which I`ve also done. To no change in the error message. Nero still comes up with the same initial winaspi error.

Twilight Seraphim -> RE: winaspi.dll problem solved. INCD wont run (7/24/2003 9:14:17 PM)

So far I`ve found out this much. That I`m not the only one who experienced this problem with the Nero update and that its the .dll files themselves. Winaspi.dll and winaspi32.dll`s file-types have to match and thats the problem on my PC. All are dated differently than the winaspi.dll which is dated for 2003.
Here`s the problem.
I don`t know how to get the upgrades for the other dll's or to change the winaspi.dll.

Twilight Seraphim -> RE: winaspi.dll problem solved. INCD wont run (7/24/2003 11:03:51 PM)

Ok.

I got the winaspi files replaced. Now, its telling me Error 16, there are no adapters present. Same situation though. I can only burn cd images. I`ve never had any of this happen before I installed the Nero update.

Twilight Seraphim -> RE: winaspi.dll problem solved. INCD wont run (7/25/2003 3:17:41 AM)

More Complications.
Ok.
Every time I manage to get the winaspi files correct. Windows seems to think I don`t have a cd-r drive at all according to the system manager.. When they are incorrect, the cd-ris present in the system manager window except now there is no sound from *.cda type files. It is able to read files, etc. But no sound from audio cds.
Currently the aspi files are up to date (thank you Mp3Mogul.) Its just now I have a different problem.

Frustrated.
Help!?
