First off, to copy a PSX2 game you have to have a DVD reader since they are written on DVDs. Next, to get a copy you would need a DVD burner, and even then I am not sure that you can do a 1:1 copy of it. But if you are putting a PSX2 DVD game into your CDROM it will not read it.

And how much would this cost me???
can i get it off the internet???
are all PS2 games DVD???
What burner would i need???

NO.

Look on the back of the games case, see if it has the "DVD-ROM" logo, or "Compact Disc" logo. CD games can be of coarse, copied with CCD. However, you will find that most games are on DVD nowadays. When the PS2 was first released, CD-ROM games were quite common.

Yes Clint is right, most games are DVD format, but some are CD format. The CD format ones you could copy with a CD writer, but generaly speaking the GOOD games are on DVD and again you would need to buy yourself a DVD writer to do it. Either way remember that you will need a modchip to play those backups....

Sorry, but it's a hardware thing. You will need a DVD-ROM drive for this.

THIS is a DVD-ROM (reader) and THIS is what you need to create PS2 DVD-ROM backups, along with probably, a Messiah modchip [;)].

A DVD-READER IS A DRIVE. It is made out of metal/plastic parts mostly and usually has trouble traveling through phone lines last I heard [:D]. So you cannot d/l a DVD drive, or software to allow you to read DVD's because the laser wavelengths of DVD/CD are different!

bigbaddaboom -> RE: Burning PS2 Games (10/5/2002 9:28:08 AM)

OK[:(] THANX !!!
[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

No really at least that made it clear.
If i get a 16x DVD Rom Drive for $89 AU and replace my .zip drive (I think) with the DVD drive.

I have Nero Burning rom for LITE-ON LTR-1602B, WILL I BE ABLE TO COPY FROM DVD DRIVE TO CD DRIVE BY USING COPY CD FROM NERO, THEN SELECTING THE DVD DRIVE FRORM THAT AND BURN AT A LOW SPEED.

P.S Is there any other protection on PS2 GAmes !!!

Tron -> RE: Burning PS2 Games (10/5/2002 11:11:57 AM)

You have to remember that a DVD is going to have much more memory that a CD, so a DVD will not all fit on a CD in most cases. To copy a DVD you would need a DVD burner as well.

Tron -> RE: Burning PS2 Games (10/9/2002 5:47:20 AM)

Okay, the best program to do PS2 DVD-R's is Prassi Primo DVD Replicator, follow these instructions

1. Start Primo
2. Click "go to full application"
3. Click the drive that is your DVD-R
4. Choose a path for the image (preferably NTFS drive)
5. Right click on drive
6. Then click global image, Then build (this extracts the dvd)
7. Then just burn the .gi (global image) of the game with a DVD burner.
