Right now I use Nero 6 Ultra Edition 6.3.1.6. The thing I hate is it doesn't allow me to remove the minimum 2 second pause between audio tracks. The settings I use are 4x write speed, disc-at-once, and remove silence at the end of audio tracks (checked) for highest audio quality (please correct me if I'm wrong on these settings).

Please let us know the type of burner.
For maximum "quality", do not remove the silence at the end of tracks. For classical music it would be catastrophic!

You can not adjust the pause between tracks (songs) only when recording in TAO (track at once mode).

Did you try right click/properties on a song for changing the pause? It works for me.
Yep, I selected all the tracks and set them all to 0 seconds, but when it is starting to burn it gives me the error that it can only be between 2-3 seconds between tracks.

Is it a trial version or full?
It is the full version.

I'm pretty sure mine is a Benq (looks are identical, except for some of the labelling)

I bought it as a Cendyne (before they went bankrupt) and at the time this particular model came either as a Lite-on or Benq.

Hmm, but isn't TAO lower quality? Nero claims that DAO is the preferred method for burning high quality audio cds.

You'll have to leave the first track alone, then set all the rest to zero for it to work.

So a few questions now..


  • Is 4x the best speed for this burner?
  • Why does Nero Express have an option of selecting "Normalize all audio tracks" when I can't find such an option in Nero Burning ROM? Is it automatically done in Nero Burning ROM?
  • A little OT- do mini cd-rs work in car cd players?

No MiniCD's won't work in a car player, 16X is usually a good write speed for your burner

You select "Normalize" in Nero Burning ROM after you have your compilation ready, RIGHT CLICK and HIGHLIGHT THEM ALL, then select properties... this is where you can set normalization.

Ah ok thanks. Am I correct in saying that normalization causes lower quality?

Yes you are definately correct, anytime you modify a file that is already compressed, you will lessen the quality. Normalization resamples the files that you have chosen, and rewrites then all, this method is basically preferred when you have a compilation of MP3's that you have backed up from alot of different sources...

Correct as by the red book.

You should just highlight them all except the first track, right click properties and set the pause to 0 seconds.

I just tried a test with a 16 track album burned @ 16X, TAO mode, and without "remove silence at the end of audio tracks" using a Toshiba SD-R2512 CD-RW/ DVD Combo Drive. Played it on my desktop computer's Lite-On 48x cd-rom drive and there was tons of skipping throughout the first track alone. ( Also discovered I forgot to set the pause inbetween tracks [&:] ) What's the problem here?

First you should be burning DAO not TAO......... try burning DAO....

I'm trying to burn without pause between the tracks, so DAO wouldn't work [:)].

Well, I just tried with DAO mode and it worked, so I'm a bit confused on what the above quote was about.

Now I'm trying to burn a 100 track audio dvd which I have never done before.. how would I do it and what kind of media would work with HT dvd players?

P.S. is the edit feature broken? I couldn't edit my previous post to add more info.
