sangram -> ECDC crapping out on audio (9/8/2002 9:26:22 AM)

Hi

I have ECDC installed and it has stopped writing audio CDs from 'wav files. It will refuse to drag them into it's content window (the lower one) and will insist that I use MP3/WMA files. Which is fine, but when I do drag in these files, it doesn't write and pops up an error.

This is ECDC 5.0 Basic using an LG 24x writer, on an Athlon XP 1800+. It used to work fine, the only glitch I remember was when I tried out an installation of platinum before giving it to a customer who insists I personally check all software out! Since then it has not written a single audio CD. I have tried reinstalling, also a fresh formatted Win2K install, but no go.

I now use Musicmatch for my burning, but there's a small problem there too, which I'm talking about in my next post.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sangram:

Do you mean EZ Cd Creator? You said ECDC. Without knowing your operating system I would make this suggestion. Go into your computer, remove programs, and remove the offending software. Then go into the program file directory and delete any remaining tidbits that may have not been removed through the control panel. After this is completed do a REGEDIT and remove anything to do with the software. Then reboot, and do a clean installation of the software. Try this and let us know what happens. Also, do you have DMA enabled for the drive?

Yeah, I've gone so far as a total fdisk and a clean install of Win2000, let alone the software. And yep, it is Easy CD Creator by Roxio.

DMA is enabled for the drive, I've even tried PIO and everything else. No go.

Do you have Nero (Ahead Software) and InCd installed on this system? There is a conflict somewhere in the CD burning side of things... Also do you have the CD burning feature of Win2000 enabled?

sangram -> RE: ECDC crapping out on audio (9/9/2002 9:57:37 AM)

No, I don't have any other burning software.

How do I enable CD-burning in Windows 2000? I didn't know it had this feature.

It doesn't...

If you could d/l an update for your version, or get ahold of the v5 Platinum version - which is much better.

I think you will have success.

@Clint:

That is where my problem originated, I got 'a-hold' of a copy of v5 Plat. It was the biggest piece of crap I've ever seen in my life, didn't support my writer, that horrific 'Sound-stream was unholy: It doesn't allow you to have a continuous album and will add track gaps no matter what: Imagine converting a Live performance onto CD with 2 seconds of silence in between screaming crowds.

Photo Album collections were a waste, except for a few kind of photos ;) but not worth it. VideoCD creator was the only added function I found halfway useful, but not enough. I don't wanna buy Nero, I need DirectCd sometimes, too. So out the window, and problems immediately after.

I deinstalled it to get my Basic functionality back, and boom-it was dead. I think it flashed my CD Drive firmware or something. I'm forked!!

It doesn't add 2 sec gap if you write in DAO, only TAO adds the gap with Platinum...

And if it doesn't support your writer, download the latest 5.3 update - 20MB or so and it fixes it better!

Just uninstall Basic, install Platinum and dowload the very latest update, and all will be good and always write in DAO.

You can use Nero latest with ECDC latest and Direct CD but don't install Nero InCD.

I have the above installed, without InCD - works well together.

Thanks for the info about CD burning in Win 2000 Clint, I vaped my copy for WinXP Pro and couldn't remember exactally. I assumed all of the NT Kernel OS's were the same [;)]
