bittermelon -> backup sims game (9/29/2001 2:16:08 PM)
does anyone know how to backup the sims games? (livin' large, house party) i have tried using clone cd, diskjuggler on a LG CED-8120 but it says there is a read error with the original game cd. is this mostly due to the hardware's problem? what can i do to be able to backup the cd? thankyou.

hi bittermelon and welcome to the forum. your burner will not support the correct efm encoding required to backup the safedisk 2 protection that this game uses. the best you can hope for is a copy that will run in the burner only. however when you state there is a read error on the original cd that is indeed an understatement. there are closer to 10,000 read errors. that is how the protection works.
in order to copy this protection with clonecd you must enable fast error skip. you should download clony and use it to detect what protection is on a cd and the setting needed to copy it. you can get it from here:
you might also try a new program called cd mate. a 30-day trial is available on the download page at cdrtimes.net. some have stated that they had better luck with cd mate than with clonecd.

The Sims Livin Large is not Safedisk2 from memory I think its Safedisk one. Slow down you read speed to 4* and enable fast error skip you LG may do it. Some LG are supported by Clone. Cheers
