Hi...

Anyone have problem updating LG GCC-4120B
I booting in command prompt safe mode, then when I try to load firmware, prog said Not compatible device found.. Or something.
I download firmware from LG homesite, LG GCC-4120B is alone and master on cable!

Any help will be great. Or some info or link will be great also.

Hi Alan
When you boot into Safe Mode it does not load your Drivers for the CD and that is why Windows cannot find it !!!
The best way is to use a boot disk for Windows ME or 98 and run it with CD Support then you will be able to run your Firmware Upgrade !!!

For all who have same problem here is a answer.

I download firmware from HP for HP GCC-4120B combo DVD RW drive and flash it with HP firmware to 2.01 then restart comp and flash again with flasher from hp but *.mot file from LG 2.02 and you done.
Seems ther`s a problem with LG firmware 2.02 on their site. If someone can tell LG for that problem.
Now drive work much faster, record now start in couple of seconds, and disc recognition is almost twice faster.

Hello Laffin Assassin!
I couldn't find the "HP" 2.01 firmware for my GCC-4120B... My unit is made by LG, and that might explain it. I coundn't even find a HP DVD-Rom/CDRW Drive Model GCC-4120B on the HP website. I DID finally find the 2.02 upgrade and the 2.01 firmware for the LG GCC-4120B. The place I found them is http://perso.club-internet.fr/farzeno/firmware/dvd/combo.htm . I havn't tried to do the flash yet until I checked with you to confirm your original instructions in reguards to the "HP" firmware that you mentioned. Any further insight will be appreciated. [:D]
