only your cdrw can read ATIP so make sure you burner to read it.

Also, you may need to update your ASPI drivers for it to work.

I am using the cdr/plextor 48/24/48 drive. The software is brand new that came with the plextor drive (not sure about the ?ASPI drivers. where do I find these listed, are they in the device manager?)

Also a quick question about this board. Is there any way to save the password so that it does not need to be entered every time to post a reply?

I did try to download and load aspi drivers (and verified that they were loaded using the included aspicheck software). But even so, when I run the linked cdridentifier software, it seems to be looking for a scsi drive, and I have an ide drive?
The two line choices seem to say

Scsi ID of Device: no recorder found
SCSI Status: Unknown or vender specific sense code

And the bottom disk information section stays blank

Hey Scott, post some impressions from the latest Plextor 48X drive. We are still waiting for it to arrive

Scott1 -> RE: TY 40x Media? Is this real? (9/15/2002 1:16:20 AM)

I really like it. (so far). It is noticibly faster than my 40/12/40, but the media I have does not come near 48X. I bought 100 taiyo yuden 40X cdr's that are supposed to be 48X certified. The fastest I think it got to was 45X and only for a split second. The first half of the writing seemed to be about 20-30X, and the second half was 35-45X. (powerrec on) Using TDK 40X and generic 32X disks wrote a bit slower using powerrec. Also, some of my audio cd's while ok in my cdrom drive, played very noisily in the plextor if not perfectly balanced. I had one taiyo yuden disk stop while recording due to recording errors at 48X and had to throw it out. It is the first disk of any kind that I have had to toss since getting any plextor drive.

I am relatively new to cdr/cdrw, but it is the best/fastest drive of the 3 I have tried in the last couple of months.

Cannot really try the 24X cdrw, since I cannot find any media that will support this speed yet........let me know if you know of any (at a reasonable price)

(as well as if anyone knows any 48X cdr media that is more consistently 48X and at a good price)

Try supported media list over www.plextor.be website. As soon we test it (hopefully soon), we will try to cover many media to check the media compatibility. Plextor usually adds more media with newer firmware upgrades, so stay tuned!

That is why I ordered the TY media from the internet. The Plextor site did not have 48X yet when I checked it, but the bood that came with the drive specified TY media that was certified for 48X (but the fastest it went with powerrec on was about 45X and that was just a split second.....most of the time it was 20-40X

At the end of the disc? It is possible that your disc was not in perfect shape, so PoweRec drops speed to avoid problems. Have you tried with other TY 48X media?

By the way, your link seems to have a comma, instead of a period, thanks............

Checked out their site (USA), and all I found were up to 24X CDR and 4-10X CDRW. Looked at products for sale online and at all media. If you can find it, please send me a direct link.

Scott, thanks, fixed the link! Scott, just email them, they will email you back within say 1 hour (GO YAMAHA) they have the CDRW 24X discs, they just haven't updated the online shopping page.
