Yuri Vasilevski -> Help me Plz. (9/9/2001 1:41:54 PM)

Hi,

I was trying to OC my PleXWriter 16/10/40A to PlexWriter 24/10/40A
I have downloaded 24's 1.01 Firmware, but it didn't wanted to
update. So i tryed Sony's upscrx21, but it told me something about
that the image (the BIN file) has wrong size.
Then I HexEdited the W2410V101.bin to change the name of the image
(at 0x10000 byte) from:
"PLEXTOR CD-R PX-W2410A1.0108/22/01 16:00 PLEXTOR WINCHES 000............."
(the dots '.' represent FF hex value)
to W1610A103.bin's:
"PLEXTOR CD-R PX-W1610A1.0306/22/01 15:00 PLEXTOR SEATTLE 000.EVOLUTION..."
and the checksum (at 0x77FFE byte) from: 8879 (hex value) to: 8149

Then I was alowed to update using plextors update appl (PXUpgrade32.exe).

But wen i restarted my computer windows don't recognized my drive at all.
But if i see my drives from the BIOS it apears as something (without any
name) that uses PIO 4 and UDMA 2. (So i isn't completly lost)

Now the real question. How can i undo what i have done?
(I know, I'm rely stupid, but I steel don't want nor have the money
to buy new drive)

I think somewhere there is a program to flash any drive on fx Primary master on the IDE controller, with any *.bin file, but i'm not sure, if you find any, just flash using the latest original firmware for your drive.
Search the net, you might find something

Return the drive and say that during firmware update power has been cut off

Visit www.cdrinfo.com - The Recording Authority
