Rookie_Burner -> Burning Audio CD's (1/13/2002 9:21:27 PM)

I am a new computer owner and am trying to get used to burning audio CDs. I am using the Liton 24102b 24x10x40x burner, Window XP operating system, Maxell 700 KB CDs (16X certified).

First I write the CD info to an image file and then burn that image file to a CD using Clone CD v.3.3.4.1. Everything seems to work OK except that one or two tracks on the new CD will skip or will play as static only. I am running at about 50% success rate with the discs I have attempted to copy so far. I have checked the original disks for scratches etc... but still am having some trouble.

How does the reading speed, writing speed and buffer size come in to play? I know this may appear as a pretty silly question but I am learning and want to find out more.

I used the same disks with my Liteon and didn't get ANY to work.

As soon as I changed media, all is well.

What media? Taiyo Yuden as manufacturer preferabley but basically any thing but those Maxell.

Go to www.exactaudiocopy.de and download EAC.

Under the HELP menu there is a wonderful tutorial on how to set up the program and make a PERFECT copy of an audio disc. Of course, if you are in a country that is now using protected audio discs, then you are stuck using another program.

I used to have no problems with Maxell but they recently changed there media from the gold to silver disc's and it went downhill from there! Now onto Verbs and never had a coaster

Thanks for the info.

I just switched to Sony disks and have just burned a good copy CD. A friend told me the Maxell CD's were good and he has no problems with them. Who knows? Maybe the Lite-On burners are finicky.

Thanks again.
