Sean -> DVD Playback (9/5/2001 11:58:17 PM)

I've been burning data and audio CD's for quite some time. Most of the problems that I've encountered have been resolved by using better media. However, when burning audio CD's I cannot get these CD's to playback in my Sony S530D DVD player, all other CD players playback the material fine.

I've used Red Book, Orange Book and Orange Book II standard media with the same results.

Any suggestions?

Are you use Sony support CD-R media?

Yes, use CD-RW media!

Many stand alone dvd players cannot read CD-r's but have no problem with CD-RW media. Exectly the opposite than most audio CD players.
Why? no idea.

Here's a LINK to a comprehensive compatibility list of stand alone dvd players.

The Sony DVP-S530D entry: CD-R = NO CD-RW = YES
with lots of details.

There are many players who can do CD-R and some play MP3 encoded CD's.
Which can be very nice!
