leaked -> Black & White perfect copy and new patch?! WTF%! (11/29/2001 7:52:15 AM)

Ok, I burned a PERFECT COPY of my very own Black & White CD. I did a fresh install from the backup, played for a bit and quit. All with no problems or delays.

Now, I've just installed the latest (only) patch for the game v1.10 and I can't even get the game to load!!! I gives me the splashscreen, goes to the desktop, starts the B&W game screen and then goes back to the desktop again (this time for good). ; P

What's up with that?

I read on my TEAC CD-W524E with FES: 3 retries, none and read subs (just in case) all @ 1X. I burned @ 4 X with Don't correct subs and RAW DAO and burnproof.

I don't get it.

Typically, if you apply a patch, then you must REBURN the game as the patch will render the orignal game unplayable like what happened to you.

WTF?!

You mean everyone with this problem (including people who only use the original cd to play, according to the B&W forums) has to burn a new modified copy?

This makes no sense, how can a patch physically modifiy a CD-ROM??? I burned the copy from MY CD THAT I BOUGHT.

Anyone else care to differ?

my bet is that leaked is playing the game from the burner. the latest patch added an atip check that disables it when reading a burned cd from the burner. same thing happened with the first update to max payne.

Leaked,
I guess I didn't read your initial post close enough and incorrectly jumped to the conclusion that you also applied a "fixed.exe or no-cd patch" when you burned the first disc. I apologize for this mistake. If all you did was burn the copy without any modifications then what Netman said in the above post is right on the mark. If you enable "hide media check" in the latest version of Clonecd, then you should be able to run the game without reburning, but I am not 100% sure. Or play it in a standard CD-ROM which won't do an atip check.

the only way to solve this is you need to unsafe the exe file.
if you need unsafe email me request unsafe then i send it to you.

Actually, as I mentionned, SAFEDISC 2 PROTECTION is INTACT. I made a perfect copy and I can play it perfectly with NO PATCHES. It's just I was playing from my burner after installing the new patch. 8*)

Thx anyway.

you can make a fully working SD2 protected games, with the new version CloneCD, but as soon as you update your patch, it won't work, the only way you can solve this problem is to run unsafe program, basicly the unsafe hack program it make a dump file and recreate exe file so you can play game even you update your patch.

I,m having a hard time understanding you, I never heard of such a protection scheme!

Is this new? What's it called? Or is it the new version of CloneCD that is bugged?

All my other SD2 copies work great, even when NOT in my burner. All with NO PATCHES or CRACKS, even with the updates.

don't be confused, leaked. from what i read you have a good copy. the latest patch probably adds an atip check. what that does is check to see if it can read an atip. if it can then the game knows that it is being run from a burned copy and will refuse to run. only burners can read the atip because they need to read it to determine what the cd capacity and speed capabilities are before it tries to burn to it. if you play it from a cdrom or dvdrom then it's no problem. if you want to run it from a burner then you can use the new clonecd feature 'hide cdr' that prevents the software from finding the atip. you can also use a utility called insektors and i think daemon tools will also do it.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Thanks for clearing that up for me (and everyone else reading this thread). ; )

I knew a new protection wasn't yet availible here and certainly not on B&W as I did play it no prob.

Phew!

THX AGAIN. 8*)
