Zeta09 -> Unbeatable CD protection? (11/15/2001 1:41:25 PM)

Tried to burn some new games last week and could NOT do it (Shogun: Total War, Throne of Darkness). Have Nero 5.5.1 and got a communication error on CD-on the fly. When I tried to create an image file same problem. Then I tried using Clone CD with a protection detector and could NOT detect the protection and would not read the disk. Hmmm. So then I tried to cut and paste files onto new disk. Worked as expected but ID protection gets in the way. Message saying please insert correct CD-ROM.
Need help here guys. This is for all you protection gurus out there. Where do I need to start and what resources can I use to get past this conundurum. I have already been to the CD-R source guide site and they have alot of information but no real solutions unless I am missing something.
Let me know.

Use a real CD copier like CloneCD

You didn't say what reader/recorder you got, but if not having luck with cdclone, try cdmate or padus dj(latest) or blindwrite

Sorry about that
Why doesn't CDClone take care of it? Any how found out one of the games has SafeDisc2 so I think I will try Insektor unless any one of you guys knows something better?

Plextor 16/10/40A
Windows 2000 Pro
CD Clone and Nero 5.5.1

What tha hell?

Try latest CloneCD and check "Amplify Weak Sectors" option at the recording part.

i've tested that option with delta force land warrior and it did work. i used a mitsumi 4805te and it worked perfectly. your burner may have a problem with the feature.

I tried using the "Amplify Weak Sectors" setting and it worked with all the burners Plextor, Ricoh, LiteOn & Creative.

You must have CloneCD installed on the target machine & "Hide CDR" must be ticked.

But if u get the LG GCE1860B, it makes perfect copies (on my system anyway).

the copies i made using aws didn't need clone installed on the target machine. this would only be true if the target used a burner to run from and an atip check was enabled in the software, or it the source couldn't read subchannel data and the protection was securom.

I said it didn't work because it didn't i have a plex16 and i've burned the game to a cdrw and it worked fine (Toshiba,Plextor,Asus) but when i burn it to a cdr the game only runs from Plextor, (installs fine in any drive) so "Hide CDR" i think not! it worked with a cdrw. i know this is very stange but that's true!
