I got a Discgear Selector 120 HD for a Christmas present. It stores 120 discs. in an upright position without their cases. Pretty neat as the box itself is only about  6in. by 6in. by 16in. long. If you Google "Selector 120HD", you will get a picture of the unit. Is this a safe way to store CD / DVD's, or should they be laying flat in their original cases ?

I store mine sitting upright (not flat) in their jewel cases (like books on a bookshelf).  I imagine no harm will come to them as long as they are not rubbing each other.  Not sure if what  holds them in place will scratch them at all... hard to tell.
