cloner -> new capabilities through firmware (11/20/2005 12:11:28 PM)

Here's a newb but interesting question for ops or admins (others are wellcome too to comment)...have there ever been cases that with firmware updates of burners came new capabilities...in example...drive could make a working backup of a SD v2.5 and not higher and with new updated firmware he could do SD v3.1 or better (also other protected media and software may be the case)...and i dont just mean the upgrades which make a single layer dvd burner into a dual layer one (or is it strictly a hardware capability) ??? sorry if this question was asked in another place on this forum...'cause i couldn't find anything similar...[sm=angel.gif]

i don't think that most companies can offer improved Safedisk backup abilities, since its mainly problem with the used IC chipsets. My guess is that with firmware tuning could offer something but no serious changes
