I can backup what Yuonso is saying as it was happening to me, I couldnt figure it out for the life of me, here I was just burned a nice alabama's greatest hits driving to work and skippin, checked the media... wasnt scratched and I swore up and down I listen to the mp3s many times before and never noticed the hiccup... soo I came home listen and nothing soo I downgraded to Nero 6 ultra burned it again and it worked fine.. crap happend had to format the drive so i figured I would try it again... same thing in nero 7 fresh install nothing else on the system.... soo I'm hoping this workaround will do some good... well chime in later to let ya'll know..

It would be VERY helpful,

If you guys that are having problems, post your motherboard/chipset and OS, along with your hardware configuration, perhaps we can see exactally what configuration is having the problems, as not everyone is...

younso -> RE: audio cd skipping with Nero 7 (11/30/2005 7:10:15 AM)

mp3mogul, how do I this or rather where do I find this info?

MP3Mogul -> RE: audio cd skipping with Nero 7 (11/30/2005 4:32:44 PM)

What kind of computer do you have?
What Processor?
What Chipset?

There are programs out there to get this information if you do not know where to get it from.

You can get it from the Device Manager in Windows.. or you can use a program.

danoob -> RE: audio cd skipping with Nero 7 (12/2/2005 6:47:06 AM)

I've just joined the forums to report this as well.

Nero 7 does indeed cause skipping, but Nero 6 does not. It happens after it converts the MP3 file. To test this, just drag across the MP3's to the left hand window (compilation window). Once they are across, highlight a track and press the play button down the bottom. You will here skipping. So it's a problem with Nero's conversion dll.

MP3Mogul -> RE: audio cd skipping with Nero 7 (12/2/2005 3:17:57 PM)

I don't get the problem at all....

As I stated in a previous post (please read the thread) you would see that I asked users to post their machine CPU and Chipset type, and OS to see perhaps if it was just in certain configurations.... I don't have, nor have I ever had this problem, and I know 20 users personally here that do not have the problem (all of them are P4 users with geniune Intel Chipsets)

Not all of us... I'm have no problems as well and have Nero 7 installed on an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe (nForce4/Athlon 64 3500+) and an ASUS A7N8X Deluxe (nForce2/Athlon XP 2800+) and it works great on both.  Since my first audio CD burn, I've made several since then and no problems using quality Verbatim media.

I think Nero should be releasing an update in the coming days (usually they release an update every 30+ days or so)... I hope if fixes the issues you folks are having.

MP3Mogul -> RE: audio cd skipping with Nero 7 (12/2/2005 7:30:46 PM)

Thanks Sith!

    Would be interesting if the people having problems would post their hardware configurations.

younso -> RE: audio cd skipping with Nero 7 (12/3/2005 2:41:59 PM)

Right I am on 600 MHz Intel P3 running XP and have 256 MB RAM.

MP3Mogul -> RE: audio cd skipping with Nero 7 (12/3/2005 4:14:09 PM)

Younso, are you having problems?

SithTracy -> RE: audio cd skipping with Nero 7 (12/3/2005 4:15:02 PM)

younso - here are the minimum requirements for Nero 7 for audio and data burning:

Processor and memory
  • For writing audio and data discs:
    - 800Mhz Intel® Pentium® 3 processor or AMD Sempron™ 2200+
    processors or equivalent
    - 128 MB RAM
  • For TV recordings, DVD and video authoring:
    - 1.2Ghz Intel® Pentium® 3 processor or AMD Sempron™ 2600+
     processors or equivalent
    - 128MB RAM
  • For real−time capturing and burning:
    - 1.6Ghz Intel® Pentium® 4 processor or AMD Sempron™ 2600+
     processors or equivalent
    - 128MB RAM

More details here.  Looks like you don't meet them.  Go back to Nero 5 or 6 until you get new hardware.

younso -> RE: audio cd skipping with Nero 7 (12/3/2005 5:11:50 PM)

I am the one that started the thread.....

younso -> RE: audio cd skipping with Nero 7 (12/3/2005 5:13:08 PM)

Thanks SithTracy. I wonder why I need a fast processor just to burn a disc?

MP3Mogul -> RE: audio cd skipping with Nero 7 (12/4/2005 6:58:53 AM)

Processor and memory

  • For writing audio and data discs:
    - 800Mhz Intel® Pentium® 3 processor or AMD Sempron™ 2200+
    processors or equivalent
    - 128 MB RAM
  • For TV recordings, DVD and video authoring:
    - 1.2Ghz Intel® Pentium® 3 processor or AMD Sempron™ 2600+
    processors or equivalent
    - 128MB RAM
  • For real−time capturing and burning:
    - 1.6Ghz Intel® Pentium® 4 processor or AMD Sempron™ 2600+
    processors or equivalent
    - 128MB RAM

These are the Requirements of "Nero 7 Software"

You may "not" need these requirements for other software...... These requirements are recommended by Nero to ensure you have quality, safe burns without problems.

danoob -> RE: audio cd skipping with Nero 7 (12/5/2005 4:47:40 PM)

Sorry.

I'm having problems with Nero 7 as posted above and have:

P4 2.8 1 MB L2 cache 533 FSB
1024 GB RAM
Intel chipset
NEC 3540 16x DVD burner.

Here is something else for you to try. If you convert the MP3's to WAV's first (using something like dbPowerAmp) and then drag and drop the WAV's into Nero to burn you do NOT get any skipping.

i.e. The skipping occurs when you convert using Nero's MP3 dll, and BEFORE you burn.
