indianjalepeno -> LG GSA4167 DVD (10/24/2005 12:12:40 PM)

Hello all, total noobie here and I wish I'd found this site before buying this OEM unit.
Installed OK but computer doesnt recognise it.  I've seen all this firmware info (D11/D12). As it only came in a plastic bag and no software, what do I need to do to get it to be recognised.  My O/S is Win XP.  This replaced my existing LG DVD ROM unit and all the leads from that went into the DVD RW.  What haven't I done???...feel free to call me a nuggett!![:D]
Many thanks
I J

Set 4167 as Secondary Master and the jumber on the back of the drive at the same position too.

Thanks for the replies, ive managed to install it properly now.  It was the jumper seetings at the back[:D]....however, there is now an intermittent problem with it not being recognised as a DVD R drive.  When I open the door, on the 'my computer' screen it shows as a DVD R drive, but as soon as it closes it reverts back saying its a CDr drive with a DVDr disk in it...obviously this causes problems when trying to burn large amounts onto the disk...I am definately putting in a DVD r disk in BTW!!
Is this a known problem with the initial firmware(DR10)??

Thanks again for any replies

IJ

do you have InCD or any other packet writing software installed?

indianjalepeno -> RE: LG GSA4167 DVD (10/28/2005 7:07:01 AM)

Ahem, er, yes...i think?!
If having DVD Santa, Roxio7.5/win avi vid convertor and Blaze media pro are classed as packet writing software (i'm sure they are) then yes!! But its only intermittent, as later yesterday it was showing as a DVD drive? Is it down to just one of the above....oh and now got Nero 7 too!!  Too many me thinks!!!!!!
