Followed the guide to make audio cd but my cd still can't be read by the cd player on my radio. I'm using Nero 6, WinXP, Iomega ZipCd 650 USB (yup, it's old). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

First of all, let me welcome you to the board, and thanks for your post, and I can understand your frustration!

You mention your RADIO CD player can't read the disc.... I am asuming (please correct me if I am wrong) that your radio is in an automobile.

Please, do not be discouraged, this is very common, as it seems that each Manufacturer, of each device has a different likeliness to it's media.

I would simply suggest, that you try different media brands until you find one that your player likes. I think that you will find you will eventually get a disc that both your writer, and your player agree with. It would be most helpful as well, if you would post your country/location in your profile, as this is a very diverse board, and there are more than likely users/mods/admins that are in your area, and can suggest media to your liking.

Please do as MM has suggested. Almost all car players are very picky over recorded media.

Thank you guys for replying. No, it's not a car cd player. It's the home cd player (stereo cd player is what people call it perhaps?). I forgot to mention that I'm recording on cd-rw. I did some research and I found that most regular cd players don't play cd-rw's. Do you guys think that some cd-rw brands can work as audio cd?

ScarletBast, excuse me for the misconception.
The same applies to home players, but to less extend, especially for newer models.
Unless your player's documentation state explicitly that -RW discs are supported, I think you will have no chance. RW discs are less reflective, so unless the player maker has taken special compensation meters, the laser head will not be able to focus on RW discs.

No cd-rw then...What chances do I have with cd-r's? Do you think I should buy branded or generic ones? I didn't have any problem recording data on generic cd-r's but I don't know how different it will be on audio cd. It would be quite a waste of money to buy a batch of cd-r's just to find that they won't work.

Most of your media these days is okay for audio, I do say "most" stick with a major brand, and since you are in the UK, I'm sure Laffin will join in here and post you some generic ones you can buy that he has had luck with.

I bought some Memorex 48x cd r's. I don't know whether that's good or not...my cd burner has a max speed of 4x (can only use 2x to avoid buffer underrun) and I read somewhere that overburning can occur since the dye on the cd has a fast response, unlike the slow speed of the burner.

Perhaps it is time to weigh the decision to purchase a new burner. A 4X burner with the newer media being released, will soon find it's way to being extinct. Although, if you find a media that works well with the drive, and you don't mind burning at 2X then you should be okay. With drive prices dropping through the floor, perhaps it is time to consider a new purchase though.

There are some "excellent" drive reviews on the forum, if you should find this is the case.
