hey guys like it says iam really looking for a patched firmware that will allow open burn speeds for the plex 716a never had a problem finding that type of firmware for my pioneers but wanted something new but can't find this hacked firmware anywhere if u guess can show me a link or even upload the firmware that would be great thanx

As far as I'm aware there isn't any as Plextor rips at upto 12x I guess most folks never felt the need
Although nowadays speeds on some makes(likeBenQ) do exceed this rate with ease

not rip speeds i mean burning speeds meaning burning any media at 12-16x i heard a few people on here have done it if someone can leave a link that would be great thanx..

Sorry rushed my last post I meant to add writing speeds with all the media I have used is 16x with latest f/w (MCC 03 TYO2 Ritek G03/05)

Every 8x media I have burns at 16x with the stock 1.08 firmware.

 i can't  seem to reach 16x with my stock firmware with 8x media i can barley reach 8x with 8x media can i do something about this>?

What firmware do you have?

What are your system specs?

Is the Plextor set a UDMA4?

Is ASPI Installed?

What TOTAL Burning Software Installed?

Plextor on 40 or 80 Pin Cable?

What firmware do you have= newest tht came with drive v.1.08

What are your system specs xp= 3000+ 1.5GB DDR MEM epox board

Is the Plextor set a UDMA4 =yes

Is ASPI Installed = yes latest witch is 4.17 iam pretty sure of but if u got a link to latest please post

What TOTAL Burning Software Installed = useing alcohol 120% and nero

and yes set to 40 pin i think it's a ide plextor how can u switch to 80? let me know

if there's anything u can help me change or that will work please post thanx..

Yes, install the 80 pin cable that came with the drive!

Also, 4.17 ASPI is NOT stable with WinXP... download and install the 4.60 version here but PLEASE PLEASE read and follow the instructions!
