dgc -> problem withmp3 disc on portable player (7/22/2005 5:51:55 PM)

Hi - I've just started trying to create MP3 cds on a oldish PC. (WinME and CD Creator 4). On a CD-R disc, my MP3 cd players (one portable, one hi-fi system) see more tracks than they should. So skipping tracks or using shuffle goes to the wrong place - i.e. the middle of a track.

Doing the same thing with CD-RW media seems to work fine!

Anyone any idea why, or what I'm doing wrong. I created the MP3 file using cd-ex, and copied the files onto CD with Adaptec Direct-CD, using drag-and-drop via windows explorer.

Thanks.

Did you fialize the CDR?
How about a different media brand and NEro?

probably you need to use a proper AudioCD authoring software like Nero or CopyToDVD[8D]

Hi - thanks for the replies. I finalised the CD using the Direct CD wizard, which has an option to "make the disk readable in normal CD drives". I don't know what this really does - but until I did this, the CD player didn't recognise the disk at all.

Anyway, I've done it using Nero now - and it works fine.

The wierd thing is the disks don't look any different under windows, and both play fine on the PC. Still - I'll stick with Nero now I've got it!

Thanks again.

Just use the CDRW disc as normal, don't use InCD, burn it as a normal DATA disc and you'll not have any problems.

Hi, I have a similar problem, only I'm already using Nero! I've successfully burned MP3 CDs that play on my Packard Bell PB-OP4 player, but I recently bought my wife a Tevion MP3 CD player and it won't recognise either the latest disc I burned for my wife or any of my earlier discs. Any suggestions?

Media incompatibility? Are all the discs from the same brand?

Indiasign -> RE: problem withmp3 disc on portable player (8/1/2005 4:32:14 PM)

Well, I've found one solution to my problem. I've downloaded a trial version of the Acoustica MP3 CD Burner, burned a couple of CDs (cheapo generic discs, without even a manufacturer's name on!) and they both play fine on both my wife's player and my own.

So I can only assume there's some sort of conflict between Nero (which everyone recommends as the best burner software out there and which, to be fair, I've never had any problems with before) and the Tevion player.

Ho hum...
