Dolphinius_Rex -> Dolphin 101 (5/13/2005 4:44:23 PM)

Hi Everyone,

I'm a 22 year old white male. My birthday is April 13th 1983, and I live in Vancouver BC Canada. I am a media tester by hobby, and have direct and frequent contact with Optodisc America, and Maxell Canada. I also have contacts with Daxon Taiwan, and BenQ Taiwan. In the past I've worked closely with Ritek USA as well.

As for personally, I work within the media industry, doing many various things. I spend probably 12 hours a day on my computer. I don't sleep much, and my only guilty pleasure (other then my girlfriend) is my interests in Japanese Animation (aka Anime). My obsession with anime is the only thing that can compare with my obsession with optical media.... although it still takes a noticable second place.

Over the last year or so, I've gained a much larger web presence, and can now be found on sites such as this one, as well as CDRlabs.com, redflagdeals.com, blankmedia.ca, and was recently quoted as a source for an article on canoe.ca (http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/TechNews/Gazin/2005/05/12/1036856.html).

Currently I own 8 DVD burners, and 2 CD burners, but my collection is often growing and changing with the industry.

Well, that's everything I can think of... any questions? [:D]

LOL your interests are similar as mine.. we're also about the same age. =)

Dolphinius_Rex -> RE: Dolphin 101 (5/18/2005 12:29:42 AM)

I don't suppose you live in Canada though?

Iggy -> RE: Dolphin 101 (5/18/2005 1:17:45 AM)

8 dvd burners? do you have any spare?[:D]

Dolphinius_Rex -> RE: Dolphin 101 (5/21/2005 3:08:06 AM)

I use all the burners I own... yes, I use BOTH of my BenQ DW1620's even [:D]

And for the first time ever, I'm about to break my "rule of 8" about DVD burners. I'm going to finally own 9 DVD burners at the same time (my total in life will then be 11). That will be a BenQ DW1640, which I will ALSO use [8D]

Iggy -> RE: Dolphin 101 (5/21/2005 5:33:09 AM)

How about 10? The new NEC 3540 will be a challenge for your collection, don't you think?[:D][;)]

Well, whether or not I get one will depend largely on whether or not NEC announces a new drive before I have the oppurtunity to pick one up! I've been a little cheesed at how quickly NEC drops drive production and makes new burners. I have an NEC 3500a, after which came the NEC 3520, NEC 3530, and now NEC 3540... and I've had it for less time then my BenQ DW1620 which is just JUST now being replaced with the BenQ DW1640 (which will arrive today in my office!). But if NEC can hold their horses and start making drives to last longer then 2-3 months at most, I'll start looking at getting them again. [8D]

Yes, this with NEC, every month a new drive sucks.[&:]

I got a 3520 and I think I won't change it.[:)]
