Hello,
I realized that this was a rebranded drive AFTER I purchased it. I believe it is the LiteOn SOHW-1673S.
I can't get it to burn faster than 1/2x. I got Verbatim 8x DVD-R media. I decided to try and upgrade the firmware. I downloaded the file for this device from liteon. The executable is called JS07.EXE. When trying to run this, it says I do not have a LiteOn drive, and displays my Yamaha and the rebranded Sony. Is there a way to force this exe to work?

I tried getting a programed called 'litefirm.exe' to extract the .bin out of the exe file. This did not work either, saying there was no liteon firmware in the executable.

Please help me.

Welcome!

You need MTKflash in order to flash your Sony with a LiteOn firmware.[:)]

I would appreciate that since I can not find the bin file for this drive. My email address is <snip>. Thank you.

I did get my drive to burn at 8x, I had to reboot my computer after enabling DMA mode.. DOH! But I would still like to flash the firmware or at least see the changelog for the latest firmware.
