I am trying to update my CDR to recognise and use 700mb cdr,s by way of firmware.

The update I have should be run in "RealDos" mode, but I run ME which does not appear to have a"realDos" mode.

I have also been advised to run the update from a boot disk with update programs on the boot disk, but thers is not enough room on the floppy fo accomadate the update programs.

You may gather I am feeling my way in the dark here, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Kronic and Welcome to our Forum !!! [:)]
All you have to do is copy Just the Firmware files into a Clean newly made Folder on your Hard drive then reboot your computer and boot it from a Windows ME or Windows 98 floppy boot dos disk with CD Support and then run the Files from the Folder you have just made on your Hard-Drive and that is a easy way to do it without putting the Files on a bootable Floppy !!! [:)]

Have just copied a 700mb file for the first time, and it works.

Th burner software does not appear to recognise the incresed size but thats not so bad as long as the thing does the job.

Kronik,

Windows ME does have a "Read DOS" mode, it's just hidden from you, as this software OS is based still on DOS. There are alot of patches on the web to allow you to access "REAL DOS MODE" from within ME. Do a google search!

hrm i have a 100E burner from sony does the new firmware offer anything other than 700mb burning?
