dirtycze -> plex24 cannot make SD2 copies correctly help (10/19/2001 5:11:19 PM)

i just purchased a plex24 writer since it was given the mark of ability to make perfect backups of SD2... tried making a copy of operation flash point....didnt work....even though it was a copy and not original....then went out and bought From Dusk till Dawn which is SD2 and it doesnt work....when i play the game it asks me to re-insert the cd media....my settings for the latest clonecd 3.0.9.1 was ***fast error skip*** ***read retries 0*** ****and hardware correction**** if this is false please help out..iam tired of using cd cracks..for once i would like to successfully copy a ****ing SD2 game..should i resort back to the firmware 1.00????

Don't have these games. Could they have the new ATIP protection? Have you tried playing them on a regular CD-ROM or did you only try playing them in your burner?

well i guess the new version of SD2 is using that atip crap hmmm..well i installed From Dusk till Dawn on two computers using two different cd writers...maybe i should try using a cd rom maybe that will do the trick

Mike,

Have you tried playing the backup copy in a regular CD-ROM? I had the same problem with Max Payne(1.02 patch) and Diablo II Expansion. They both check ATIP and my copies would not work in my Lite-on 24x10x40. However, they both worked fine in an Afreey 50x CD-ROM in the same system. (Max Payne worked in my burner without the patch. Apparently, the 1.02 patch added ATIP check)

thanks for everyone's support.........i re-did everything for From Dusk till Dawn....i used clonyxl to find out which settings to use in clonecd.....used plex24 for reading and writing...and used my old ass 24x cdrom to install and play...and it ****ing worked!!!

but i was wondering...it took 19 minutes to read..which seems correct if you take the disc length (75 minutes) and divide that by read speed (4x) ..but when i burn using 8x since i dont have cds that support 24x yet...it took around 18 minutes and it should at least be somewhere around 10 minutes...hmmm...my system is a 233 pentium i have my plex as master and old ass cdrom as slave but i dont think my system supports UDMA and that is the highest speed feature that plex supports...any comments ????

I couldn't use hardware correction for fast error skip and used software correction and I was able to copy an SD2 game. Read 2:46, write 3:58.

first, there are only three TLAs out there so far for the plex 24x (0000, 0100, 0101). They all work with SD2 and CDS. The rumor that only 0000 works with copy protected disks is old and already disproven. Do a search of this site and you will see that all 3 TLAs work.

You can do better than that, burnt off.

Eh there might be a fourth version around with TLA#0001. I have had some questions about this one however I cannot find a drive with this TLA.
The Tla's you post are the ones that were found and checked.
These were also the TLA's I've heard most things about. However I got some mail about the above stated (TLA#0001). Has anyone seen this one before ?

Burnt Off the Lite On isn't better.

Can your lite On do all the audio protections the plex can like CDS-100. Well I don't think so. We tested 3 Lite On drives 24102B and had no luck copying it with a Lite On burner. The only company that makes drives that can read CDS-100 is plextor as far as we know and have seen. There were some rumours about a Sony drive but a friend of me checked it with 2 drives and he didn't succeeded.
Okay the Lite On may be faster, can work better with most media and is cheaper. However it will not do most new audio protections like the plex can.

Don't get me wrong. I really think that the Lite On 24102B is one of the best drives out there.

a thousand pardons, must have been the rum. Thanks for putting me straight! I will do a couple hail mary's

burner1000000 -> RE: plex24 cannot make SD2 copies correctly help (10/24/2001 1:05:37 AM)

rjw,

I think that someone is either mistaken or is "pulling your leg". A TLA#0001 would not make any sense. If there were a 0001, then there would not have been a 0100 (which I have). The sequencing would have been wrong. When the 01 hardware revision came out, they would have paired it with the 1.01 fw, thus no 0100 would have occured. fw 1.01 would have already been out. The sequence would have been 0000, 0001, 0101.

Sounds pretty suspicious to me. Ask the person who asked you about 0001 if they have one and can send us a scan of the top of the drive. I am sure that we will never get a picture of one (perhaps TLA#0001 is the unicorn of plextor drives)!
