I'm sorry if this has already been covered, but I can't seem to find it. I'm interested in what exactly PIE, PIF, and CRC is. I'd really prefer a pretty technical explanation if there's anyone out there that has one. Thanks!

CRC = Character Redundancy Check (used to verify / validate data after it has been written to disk or into a .zip file or when transmitted over a network link and when data is extracted from a .zip or other archive)
