webe123 -> Need software to backup mp3 files! (6/16/2003 2:55:21 PM)

OK, this is what I want to do. I have Roxio Easy CD Creators "Direct CD" packet writing software already on my system. I have about 1,000 mp3 files on various CD-R's that I have created with Direct CD Packet writing software. But what I would like, is to put all of them on one or two DVD-R disks! This way, if I want to listen to a certian song in my collection, I don't have to go digging through a bunch of CD-R's....what software do I need to be able to to this? I am so used to using Direct CD that if I can, I would like to have my DVD packet writing software to act the same way! (You know....just drag and drop like you do in Direct CD...that sort of thing!) Will the new sofdtware by Roxio do the trick? What kind of DVD format does it use to packet write? (+R/+RW...or...-R/-RW??) I have a new Sony DRU 500AX DVD burner that I am going to use. This burner uses either the + or - format, but I bought some DVD-R's at wal-mart the other day for a pretty good price so I would like to use DVD-R if I can. I was thinking of getting Roxios new easy CD/DVD creator 6.0 software, but am not sure what kind of DVD format is used to back up stuff! Is this the softyware I need to get, or is there something better? Remember: I need a reccomendation for a DVD software that will 1. be able to be used like Direct CD does....drag and drop files and 2. be able to use DVD-R's! If any of you guys have any suggestions to help out a newbie to DVD burning, it would be appreciated! I have been burning CD's for years! But I have never used a DVD burner before! Any suggestions?? Please post! Thanks!

I would not use packet writing for storing on DVD my legally owned MP3's.

I would use a normal burning application in DAO mode and post-verify using "fc /b", Directory Toolikit, or some other similat file/directory comparison utility (in binary mode).
