LiteOn Americas has removed the BS41 firmware, and now removed the listing that an upcoming firmware BS42 is planned.

This was done after LiteOn announced it would not release the 1653 drive in the USA, and basically upgraded the 1633 to a 1653. After posting a nice letter to LiteOn USA customers about this firmware, and upgrade, it has now been completely removed from their website, without any notice, or reason given.

Lets hope that BS42 would be released soon

No,

I had contacted LiteOn, finally got an answer. There was a problem with the BS42 and it was pulled, looks like they are not going to release it at all now.

Well, they sent me BS42... after a really NASTY email, and informing them that I was from CDR-Info!

So far so good..... I haven't found any bugs, but not much in writing quality improvement either.

I am considering the purchase of a 1633S. I am missing something about the firmware versions. On the liteon site they post the DR16BSOS for example, but here you folks are talking about BS41, or BS42, for example.
I found BS41 (1633S 'Enhanced'??) on the http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares.html site. Is this the same ver. as you folks are discussing? Where do you get the BS41 you folks are talking about?
