Thanks for the updated review minos, as it seems LiteON needs to fine tune DVD-R since the burning results are ...very bad

I think it's SONY, because the LiteOn BS41 doesn't have the same poor results as the firmware on the Sony... LOL

The Sony firmware edges the Liteon for +R media in some cases, it's still evolving.

Some like BS0R (latest "1633 style" firmware) while other have found serious regressions on some media.

It seems the Liteon /rebrand 1633/1653 firmwares worth looking at now are:

BS0K - a pretty good 1633S example
BS0R - the latest 1633S - though some regressions
BS41 - the Liteon US "1653 style" formware for 1633S
BYX2 - Sony "1653 style" firmware fur DRU-710a (1633s rebrand)
CS07 - extracted from 1653S

Liteon's frequently trotted out update note of "match more media" is wearing a little thin - it frequently doesn't match ANY more media, and for those that improve, there always seems to be some that regress.
