What combination will have better writing quality:
- low speed writing on low speed media or
- low speed writing on high speed media

I agree also with the above.

Still, in practise (based on my experience):

- low speed media is usually older
- older burners are not very compatible with newer media (i.e. may fail even on high speed TY and MCC)
- newer burners can usually burn reliably on both older and newer media (on average)

With those things out of the way. I'd say that in cd-r burning:

1) Burning on medium speed (8x-24x), on modern high speed quality media (TY, MCC) using a modern drive of high quality will most likely result in the best possible burns.

2) Burning with older burners (max 8x.) on low-speed (4-8x) and long on the market type media (MAM-A gold) will most likely result in better results for those burners.

This is howere far from scientific. Just some rules of thumb based on my own testing and far from being the conclusive truth.

I would suggest a low speed with a new burner but it still depends on which drive it is and what firmware it has.
