I notice that there is a update to my firmware and I was wondering if I should update or just leave it. I have the plextor px-w2410a with firmware 1.03, should I update to firmware 1.04? I know I can not reverse the firmware once upgraded...
2nd question, may sound stupid , but I'll ask. Can a CD-R become a DVD-R via firmware?

Usually you have to update to the latest version in order to have the best performance. Of course there is a rule saying, if it works don't mess with it...

No you cannot make a CD-R -> DVD-R with a firmware upgrade, since DVD-R recorders using totally different chipset, lasers.
