I have an Acer dvd-Rom and windows reports the model 16X6S and a firmware version of DSR2. Any idea if there is a firmware later than this? The problem I am having is with Roxio easy cd/dvd creator 6. When I put a music CD into the Acer Dvd-Rom, roxio sees the CD as a DVD and will not do a disc copy because it reports incompatible media when I put a CD-R in the burner.

I'll be out of town for a week, so I can't get back to answer any questions.

Thanks ................ George

That model number comes up as 4kus DVD-16X6S which is a Liteon LTD166S OEM model so you might want to try HERE or HERE

Welcome to CDRinfo'S Forum!

Is it possible the music CD to be write protected?

The music CD you want to copy is it original or not?

Some originals CDs, pressed, are copy protected with protections such as CDS200 or Key@Audio.

It is not a copy protection issue. I can make a copy if I put the music CD in my burner and copy it to the HDD, then burn it to the blank CD-R in the burner in a two step process.

Yes this way you probably can, but on the fly you cannot. This can be a protection.

I DL'd DC1C.exe and tried to upgrade the firmware but the upgrade did not finish. I tried it twice and let it run until 100% showed and the process never finished. When I checked the info in DISCinfo it still shows the firmware rev as DSR2. Any other ideas?

Is this a newer version than the one you had? Where did you find it? I mean is it possible to be damaged?
