I have a brand new Maxtor 60G HD after I install the HD into my PS2, HD Loader (Free verison) said I need to format the HD before use. It will go to a screen "formating please wait" and it will just sit there for a hour and do nothing. Is this normal? How long does it take to format a HD in a PS2? I read on another website site it should take like 30 seconds. I have also try partition the HD in a PC and format the HD in a PC before trying to format it in the PS2. Still no luck.

hi, maybe you can format the HDD within windows with the WinHIIP software?

emperor thx for the quick reply. I use WinHIP to format the HD and it work and also able to transfer a game to the HD using WinHIP. However I can't get it to work with the free HD Loader, it will just freeze at the free HD loader screen. I tried to boot the PS2 without the HD attached to the PS2 and free HD loader loads up fine, it give me a message no HD found.

I guess the free HD loader don't work or it is because I have Japanese version of PS2 (modded).

Beside Ebay where else I can get a real copy of HD loader?

I think for Japanese models there is another version of HD Loader
